Frequently Asked Question
Due to the split nature of the University of Cambridge and its affiliated Colleges, most College staff will have two separate user accounts: an @cam account (aka Raven or CRSid) and an @murrayedwards account. Many of the services you use on a daily basis as part of you job will require you to log in with one of these two accounts. Which account is required will depend on the service.
Having to constantly sign out of one and into another can be a pain. So here are two solutions for using both your @cam and @murrayedwards accounts simultaneously.
Solution Number 1 (short-term)
A quick, short-term solution is to have one account open in your regular browser window, and the other account open in a private browsing window. Private browsing acts like a separate session, unconnected to any other browsers you have open. This means you can be simultaneously signed into services such as Office 365 using both your @cam and @murrayedwards accounts.
However, private browsing is intended to not remember any of your history or details you have entered during a session. So if you close the window or shut-down your computer, you will have to log into everything again the next time you open the private browsing window. For this reason, it is only suitable as a short-term solution.
Private Browsing shortcuts:
Use the below keyboard shortcuts to open a private browsing window in a varity of browsers.
Chrome/Edge - Ctrl+Shift+N
Firefox - Ctrl+Shift+P
Safari - Command+Shift+N
Solution Number 2 (long-term)
Using Microsoft Edge to create two profiles: one for your @murrayedwards account and one for your @cam account. You can then easily swap between the two depending on what service you need to access. This method will keep you simultaneously signed into services using the two accounts.
A detailed guide on setting up profiles in Microsoft Edge can be found here.
